A leading Global Insurance company is currently recruiting for a Data Controller (18 Month FTC) for their London operation

The data controller is responsible for determining the purposes and means of processing data. They are responsible for implementing appropriate technical and organizational measures to ensure that the processing of data is carried out in accordance with data protection laws, and that the rights of the data subjects are protected.

The data controller is responsible for managing and overseeing the protection of data within the organization. This includes ensuring that adequate and appropriate procedures are in place to ensure that data is accurate, up-to-date, and secure.

Ensuring that data is collected and processed fairly, transparently, and efficiently and that individuals are informed of their rights in relation to data. In addition, the data controller must ensure that data is only retained for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, as documented in the Organisations Data Protection Policy, and associated Record Retention Policy.

Key skills and Personal attributes
• Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• Understanding of data protection best practices and industry standards
• Knowledge of data protection risk assessment and management techniques
• Experience in developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures
• Experience in conducting data protection impact assessments
• Familiarity with technical measures for data protection, such as encryption and access controls
• Understanding of IT security principles and practices
• Experience in responding to data breaches and other incidents involving the loss or unauthorized access to data
• Knowledge of relevant software and tools for data protection, such as data privacy management platforms
• The ability to facilitate changes in processes across an organisation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and ability to analyse and interpret complex data

Relevant Qualifications and Experience
• A degree in a relevant field, such as computer science, information technology, or law.
• Relevant professional certifications such as the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
• Several years of experience working in data protection, IT security, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of /exposure to projects involving data protection laws and regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
