Are you a Compliance professional and looking for a new opportunity based in BERMUDA?

My client is a Global Insurance and Reinsurance company and they are currently recruiting for a Compliance Officer to work in their Bermuda operation.

Their ideal candidate will be an Insurance Market Compliance specialist with 5+ years of experience who's interested in taking on a very exciting and unique opportunity to work in the Bermuda branch of a global Insurance and Reinsurance business.

The candidate will have direct contact and exposure to the main board and will be regularly liaising directly with the regulators.

Role Summary

Compliance framework, policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain a robust, risk-based compliance framework to facilitate the company’s adherence to applicable regulatory and legislative requirements and the company’s own internal policies, procedures and controls
  • Provide expert guidance to the business on compliance/regulatory matters
Monitoring of compliance and regulatory risk
  • Assist the senior management, Board and other governance functions in identifying, assessing and monitoring areas of regulatory risk
  • Monitor the regulatory and legislative landscape and assess its impact on the business
  • Manage regulatory submissions
  • Pro-actively monitor the company’s compliance with policies, procedures, and controls
Regulatory relationships
  • Develop and maintain open and transparent relationships with regulators in Bermuda
  • Acting as an effective principal representative for the Group.
Financial crime prevention
  • Mitigate the risks to the company posed by financial crime (e.g., money laundering, terrorist financing, financial sanctions and fraud)
Regulatory reporting
  • Prepare compliance reports for the company’s senior management, Board of Directors and relevant committees
Compliance-aware culture
  • Embed and develop a strong compliance culture in the Company
Co- Sec Accountabilities
  • Attending Board and Committee meeting and minute taking an issuance
  • Filing of Key returns and ensuring all records are up to date
  • Timely Preparation of committee packs and necessary documentation ahead of meetings

Skills and Demonstrated Experience
  • Demonstrable significant relevant compliance and company secretarial experience, preferably within the re/insurance arena
