A Lloyd’s Underwriting business is currently recruiting for an Assistant Syndicate Accountant.
Reporting to the UK Financial Controller the successful applicant will and join a team that records, processes and maintains the financial ledgers, clearing and reconciling the settled direct account, assisting with the production of certain Lloyd’s and other regulator returns, and the quarterly financial reporting of the European subsidiary.
Key areas of responsibility will include the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, in particular settled direct accounts, liaising with the delegated authority team and the credit controller in matching settled direct entries and advising on entries to be processed through XIS, creating journal entries into the general ledger, assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of outputs for Syndicate reporting to Lloyd’s including QMA, US and Canadian regulatory reporting as well as Lloyd’s tax returns, assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of outputs for Solvency II reporting to various regulators, assisting in the production of subsidiary quarterly reporting, and take active participation on various annual submission, ad-hoc projects and data requests.
Applicants must have finance experience gained within an insurance business, possess strong excel skills e.g. VLookups, Pivot Tables etc. and have knowledge of Xchanging bureau systems.
Previous Lloyd’s experience would be very advantageous as would knowledge and understanding of Lloyd’s financial regulatory returns, and Core Market, MDC and Overseas return systems.
