My client is looking for an experienced Commercial Motor Underwriting Support professional to join a high-performing Fleet underwriting operation, supporting a portfolio of complex UK and Irish commercial motor risks. This role sits at the heart of the underwriting function, providing technical, administrative and broker-facing support across the full policy lifecycle.
The successful candidate will act as a key link between underwriters, brokers and insureds, ensuring policies, endorsements, declarations and premiums are processed accurately and within agreed service levels. The position offers exposure to large fleet accounts, high premium volumes and a fast-paced underwriting environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting underwriters with renewal preparation, including compiling and validating policy and claims data to enable accurate pricing and underwriting decisions
Processing new business, renewals, endorsements and mid-term adjustments, producing policy documents, certificates and schedules in line with internal and regulatory standards
Managing fleet declarations and premium adjustments, translating broker data into accurate policy and premium changes
Handling fleet credit control including broker statements, reconciliations, premium allocation, instalment plans and payment chasing across large, high-value accounts
Maintaining accurate underwriting and policy records, ensuring all transactions are logged, filed and compliant with internal controls and FCA requirements
Acting as a primary point of contact for brokers and insureds via phone and email, delivering a high-quality, responsive underwriting service
Supporting MID compliance by ensuring daily policy uploads and assisting insureds with vehicle database queries
Working closely with underwriters and internal teams to ensure service levels, renewal targets and portfolio controls are met
Proven experience in Commercial Motor or Fleet underwriting support, operations or underwriting assistance
Strong understanding of policy administration, renewals, endorsements, declarations and premium processing
Experience working with brokers and high-volume, high-value accounts
Confident handling credit control, reconciliations and premium movements
Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines and SLAs
Comfortable operating in a regulated, FCA-controlled environment
Strong communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach
This is a highly visible position within a significant Fleet underwriting portfolio, offering exposure to complex risks, large premium volumes and senior underwriting stakeholders. It would suit someone who enjoys being close to the underwriting process, working with brokers and having real ownership of the operational delivery behind a profitable book of business.
